Jamaican Steamed Rice

Rice was popular in West African culture and the slaves brought the recipe with them to Jamaica and passed on the knowledge to their descendants.
To help them adjust to their new, horrid environment, the slaves cooked food that was familiar to them, including rice and peas.
Chinese settlers after the abolition of slavery was brought to Jamaica where they introduce steamed rice as part of their daily recipes.

Ingredients
For 4 Person(s)

Recipe
3 cup(s) water
1 tablespoon(s) Margarine
2 teaspoon(s) salt
4 cup(s) Basmati Rice
Steamed Rice Directions
Put water to boil, add Margarine and salt and stir well.
Mix in the Basmati Rice and bring to a boil.
Reduce flame to low  and allow to simmer/steam for 30 minutes.
